School Holiday Program

July 2010

The Embroiderers’ Guild ACT Inc held school holiday classes for school age children of 7 years and upwards on Wednesday 7 and Wednesday 14 July 2010.

Classes were held at The Embroiderers’ Guild rooms (Embroiderers’ Hall) in Gorman House Arts Centre, Ainslie Avenue, Braddon (the Embroiderers’Hall is located at the corner of Currong St. and Batam St.).

Classes consisted of tuition in basic stitching depending on the level of skill of the child. A variety of projects were available for the children to select to work on to develop the skills learned. Each class consisted of a 3.5 -hour session i.e. 9.00-12.30 and 1.30-5.00. (Drop off at 8.30 was acceptable, but supervision was limited at this time)

Fees for each session were $30.00, including supplies. A discount of $5 per class for more than one child per family or $10 for immediate family, (i.e. children or grandchildren) of Guild members who also volunteer as helpers.

The pictures below were taken during the July 2007 holiday classes of children hard at work with the assistance of Guild members.
