School Holiday Program

Classes are held during the April, July and October school holidays. Very successful school holiday classes were held in July where items like the ones below were made.

Recent pictures taken during the July 2007 holiday classes of children hard at work with the assistance of Guild members.

General information

The Guild holds school holiday classes for school age children of 7 years and upwards generally on two days during each of the April, July and September holidays. The classes are held at the Guild rooms (Embroiderers' Hall) in Gorman House Arts Centre, Braddon (buses 33, 38 and 40 stop close by).

The children are taught by Guild members, with one teacher for every one or two students. Children are be divided into two age groups: 7-9 years and 10+. Classes are open to both girls and boys.

Two 3-hour sessions are held each day from 9.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm. Usually a different technique and project will be completed during each session; sometimes a project will take two sessions.

The fee for each session is $22. A discount for more than one child per family is available on request. A discount is also available for immediate family (ie children or grandchildren of Guild members who also volunteer as helpers).

A morning and afternoon snack of juice, biscuits and fruit will be provided. Any student doing both sessions each day will be asked to bring lunch. They will be supervised by a Guild member during the one-hour lunch break.
